 Ketchikan  Salmon Fishing . May is the beginning of our king salmon run. It start of slow but by about the fifteenth of the month the king salmon fishing starts to pick up. The Ketchikan fishing derby starts the last weekend of may and the fishing should be good by then. The halibut fishing tends to be slow in May. You might pick a few up but most are still out in the open ocean.
